Responding to the theme of PLAY this years participating artists are: Andrew McSweeney [Ireland], Benna Gaean Maris [stateless], Federica Sala [Spain], Marta Ciolkowska [Italy], Rachel Peachy & Paul Mosig [Australia], Roi Carmeli [Israel], Salla Myllylä [Finland], Stacey Mulligan [Ireland].
This years participating writer and poet is Ojo Taiye [Nigeria].
Contemporary video/film works from national & international artists are back-projected from twilight – midnight onto coated windows, transforming spaces & shopwindow into screens in the townscape.

Once again and as early as 24th of September, Wrocław will be transformed into a city of moving murals. During the 4th edition of Kinomural, a unique event combining cinema with the urban tissue, over 70 artists from all around the world will present their animations on the tenements of the historic district by the name of Przedmieście Odrzańskie. 6 themed walls will feature several dozen audiovisual works. This year their creators will compete to win prizes including the Prize of the Mayor of Wrocław. Kinomural will be preceded by a historic walk in the district, as well as a meeting dedicated to art in the public space.
For four years already, a single evening hosts a dozen or so thousand spectators who gather to view a gigantic outdoor gallery. Tenement side walls are transformed into enormous canvases for moving murals, ephemeral projections in various forms – from video art through sound performance and experimental films, to audiovisual installations.
Themed walls, Nick Cave and special eventsDuring this year’s Kinomural we will see works by artists from all around the globe whom the curator’s committee has selected to the main section, works awarded in an open call for audio-visual interpretations of a quote from Nick Cave’s song “Fireflies”, as well as animations by students of the Department of Media Art at the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.
The fourth edition of the event has some novelties in the program template – For the first time each of the six projection walls has its leading theme– says Bartek Bartos, the director of Kinomural – The wall on Jagiellończyka street are pulsating fantasies about the body and the mind, both fascinating and disturbing. Ołbińska are cosmic puzzles that coalesce into astounding structures. Then there is also the wall on Wincentego street which will prove that the various can become harmonious– he adds. The wall at Niemcewicza 27 hosts not only our traditional Bed-time cartoon on the largest screen in the world, but also the Poetry Wall, curated by Adriana Prodeus, which will tackle the question of what motion visual poetry is. The wall at Niemcewicza 30b will be used exclusively by Peter Burr, a New York master of computer animation. Together with the artist’s digital works, we will dive into the world of video games and try to find the exit out of a maze of endless landscapes, dystopias, and flickering pixels.Living and working in Brooklyn, Burr will come to Wrocław in person. Trzebnicka street will display the results of the workshops carried out within the LAACT project Light as a Creative Tool) by Robert Sochacki from the NOKS collective. Visual and sound artists will create an animation whose starting point is the light – its presence in everyday life and its significance in modern art.
The organizers are preparing two special screenings – a new glimpse into Tomek Tryzna and Agata Bartos’s project „Threshold” that is, stories that take place in the world that suddenly and dramatically lacks color and a special project by Piotr Bartos, Filip Zawada, and Konrad Imiela with music by Tom Waits.
For the first time in Kinomural’s history, the jury will award prize money. Thanks to the patronage of OKRE Development three equivalent prizes in the amount of 2000 PLN each, will be awarded among the artists from the open call.Three further awards in the same amount – the Prize of the Mayor of Wrocław – will go to artists in the main section. The jury’s verdict will be announced on September 25.
Przedmieście Oławskie to discover This year Kinomural moves to a new place. This time we will watch moving murals in the historic district of Przedmieście Odrzańskie. On the 17th of September at 4 p.m., you can take part in a walk around the district. –Together we will search for the genius loci of Nadodrze in its places, art, and lives of the inhabitants of this part of the city – says Ewa Pluta, art historian and guide.The tour will start right under the mural at Łokietka 1, titled “The Gate to Nadodrze”. Kinomural 2022 will take place on September 24 at 7:30-10:00 p.m. at six locations: Trzebnicka 19-21, Jagiellończyka 40, św. Wincentego 39a-41a, Niemcewicza 27 and Niemcewicza 30b, and Ołbińska 16.
The event will be preceded by a discussion panel dedicated to art in the public space organized by Kinomural and OKRE Development. It is scheduled for September 23 at 6 p.m. in Pod Ciśnieniem (Sudecka 96). This will be a meeting of an artist, a designer and an architect, with Peter Burr, Paweł Grobelny, and Zbigniew Maćków.The discussion will be hosted by art critic and curator of Kinomural, Adriana Prodeus. All events at Kinomural are free of charge.

S’inaugura sabato 30 aprile alle ore 17.00 presso la galleria KōArt/Unconventional PlaceLet’s take it offline, la personale di una giovanissima artista di origine polacca, Marta Ciołkowska, che segna una nuova tappa nella volontà di ricerca e valorizzazione dell’arte contemporanea in un territorio curioso e sempre aperto a nuove sfide come quello catanese. L’esposizione a cura di Aurelia Nicolosi, ruota attorno al concetto di comunicazione e all’utilizzo smodato dei social media che deformano e trasformano le menti e gli atteggiamenti delle persone.
«In un mondo ‘social’ – sostiene Aurelia Nicolisi nel testo in catalogo – dove apparentemente la connessione e la comunicazione sembrano gli aspetti dominanti, nasce l’ossimoro, il paradosso dell’isolamento, della solitudine, della mancanza di libertà e di autodeterminazione. Tutto sembra divertente, ma, in realtà, tutto si trasforma in una condizione di schiavitù e di dipendenza mentale e fisica, da cui non si può prescindere. Il presente si distorce e la quotidianità si proietta in una dimensione fittizia dove la psiche rischia di essere completamente soggiogata, atterrita, annientata, in un processo inconsapevole, dove l’identità viene piano piano travolta e disintegrata. La mostra, pertanto, diventa una presa di posizione, un’esortazione a spegnere, ad evadere da un mondo fittizio, che è causa molte volte di profondi malesseri e turbamenti. Ormai l’uomo è circondato, è immerso negli algoritmi, ma ciò non significa che debba costruire la sua vita in funzione di essi. Pertanto, let’s take it offline!, la ribellione al Grande Fratello è ora, perché, come direbbe George Orwell, «in tempi di menzogna universale, dire la verità è un atto rivoluzionario».
Facebook diventa il ‘cubo’ al piede che blocca ogni movimento e volontà di emancipazione; il telefonino assume l’identità di una protesi, di un prolungamento naturale di una mano; la sfera trasparente diventa quella barriera invisibile che circonda chi s’immerge col suo cellulare nell’interazione virtuale quotidiana, e cosi via… Ogni istallazione offre uno spunto di riflessione sui molteplici aspetti di una società dove le barriere non sono solo più fisiche ma anche mentali e digitali. Il visitatore è, pertanto, chiamato ad interagire con le opere e a riflettere sulle varie pericolose implicazioni dell’Era del WEB.
«Marta Ciołkowska (Łódź, 1993) si può inserire – come scrive all’interno del catalogo dedicato alla mostra la curatrice Maria Chiara Wang, autrice di un altro testo critico sui lavori dell’artista – a pieno titolo nella folta schiera dei nativi digitali, ovvero in quella generazione – così come definita nel 2001 dallo scrittore e studioso statunitense Mark Prensky – che è nata e cresciuta contestualmente alla diffusione delle nuove tecnologie informatiche. […] Dal 2017 Marta Ciołkowska attraverso la serie di opere: Social Toilet, Social Prison, Future, Social Time e Social Trap analizza l’homo digitalis. Così in Social Toilet affronta la questione della privacy e denuncia come, nella società di oggi, ci sia una erosione del privato a favore di una esibizione pornografica dell’intimità. […] Il video Social Prison, così come l’omonima scultura, traducono in metafora visiva la schiavitù imposta dal frastuono comunicativo prodotto dalla rete. […] Con Future si visualizzano il legame e la dipendenza morbosa e ossessiva degli individui dai dispositivi elettronici. […] Social Time si concentra, invece, sulla dimensione temporale del nostro rapporto con la tecnologia. […] Infine, Social Trap getta una luce sull’isolamento indotto dalla costante connessione alla rete. […]».
Video e installazioni caratterizzano l’esposizione in una sorta di percorso catartico, dove gli intrecci dei cavetti, rappresentano la ragnatela da cui è necessario svincolarsi per raggiungere la propria libertà. In un gioco di rimandi l’artista stimola il visitatore con costanti provocazioni, che suscitano in un primo momento ilarità per lasciare poi spazio alla presa di coscienza e alla volontà di spegnere tutto per costruire una identità migliore.

„Prime Time” 2017 to wystawa prezentująca najlepsze prace dyplomowe studentów Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. Władysława Strzemińskiego w Łodzi powstałe w roku 2017.
Podczas tegorocznej edycji prezentowane są 42 dyplomy magisterskich studiów stacjonarnych i niestacjonarnych z czterech wydziałów Akademii: Wydziału Grafiki i Malarstwa, Tkaniny i Ubioru, Wzornictwa i Architektury Wnętrz oraz Sztuk Wizualnych. Na każdym z nich podstawą kształcenia jest ogólne przygotowanie artystyczne z takimi przedmiotami jak malarstwo, rysunek, rzeźba, kompozycja, grafika warsztatowa, fotografia czy techniki multimedialne.
Mogą się one także stać tematami dyplomowymi bądź służyć kształceniu osobowości artystycznej w specjalizacjach dyplomowych dotyczących designu, architektury wnętrz, grafiki użytkowej: projektowaniu plakatów, druków, wydawnictw, gobelinów, dywanów, druków na tkaninie, odzieży, biżuterii, obuwia oraz innych form przemysłowych.
Nazwa „Prime Time” nawiązuje do tego, że autorzy dyplomów znajdują się w najlepszym dla siebie czasie – pełni pomysłów opuszczają mury Akademii i rozpoczynają przygodę na ścieżce kariery zawodowej. Ekspozycja służy promocji absolwentów, dając im możliwość wejścia w bezpośredni kontakt z przyszłymi pracodawcami oraz mediami.
